In Cambodia, 30-year-old Moen Chanthol celebrates every time someone in her family takes a sip of clean, safe water.
“For a long time my family used unclean water from a jar for drinking
and our family members always got sick with diarrhea,” Chanthol said. Her sick children could not attend school, and the family was stuck in a cycle of choosing between buying food and paying for medicine.
CWS worked with Chanthol’s community to construct an easy-to-use filter
that provides clean, safe water, and to provide basic sanitation tips.
Chanthol’s family no longer wastes time looking for wood for the fire to
boil water. "We don’t spend much time taking my children to hospital
anymore or paying for medicines. We have enough time to increase our
income."
Half of all people in rural
Cambodia don’t have access to clean water. We’re trying to reach them
with small-scale investments that have big impact. The filter we supplied Chanthol only cost $4.
